‘Ministerial', ‘Ministerial Mixed-Mode' and ‘Open Option'.
Ministerial students are those who come to the College to train for accredited Baptist ministry. To qualify as a Ministerial student, a candidate must be commended by the Ministerial Recognition Committee of either the Baptist Union of Wales or the Baptist Union of Great Britain.
Ministerial Mixed-Mode students are those who undertake their ministerial formation half-time, and also undertake a half-time pastorate of a local church alongside their College training.
Open Option students are those who come to the College to explore a vocation in ministry, but who are not necessarily following a path to accredited Baptist Ministry. Open Option students are expected to participate fully in the life of the College, and to share with the Ministerial students in all aspects of the College programme.
All students undertake both:
- An appropriate qualification in theology at Cardiff University (either full- or half-time) Please see the Academic Study page for further information.
- Additional pastoral studies modules taught ‘in house' by the Baptist College (Wednesday afternoons plus some block teaching in vacation / reading weeks)
It may also be possible to admit students only wishing to undertake specific modules from the pastoral studies programme by arrangement.
Fees:
All students must pay to the College both:
- The Pastoral Training Fee, payable directly to the College.
- The Academic (University)Tuition Fee appropriate to their degree scheme, payable to the University or College as appropriate.
Please note that the College also run an independent range of evening or Saturday courses which are open to people not otherwise studying at the College. Salvation Army
The college is also a recognised training centre for the Salvation Army.Students can pursue courses which are either full-time College-based or part-time congregation-based, with a full range of Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees available (BA, BTh, MA, MTh, MPhil, PhD).
